Dearborn residents will join every household in America in completing a short, 10 question form, mailed from the U.S. Census Bureau in March 2010.

The census is a count of everyone living in the United States. The U.S. Constitution requires a national census every 10 years.

It's confidential. By law, the Census Bureau cannot share an individual's answers with anyone, including welfare and immigration agencies, courts of law, or even the President of the United States.

Each person is asked to complete and mail the form which asks their name, relationship, gender, age and date of birth, race, and whether the respondent owns or rents his or her home.
Census staff will visit only the homes of those who do not return their questionnaires by mail to collect the information requested on the form.
